The routers chosen for the study include some of the world’s most popular brands- Linksys, Belkin, Netgear, Verizon and D-Link to name a few. Diflucan Although the latest firmware was used in the study, all devices were configured to the average “out-of-box” settings.  ISE stated that users have few options for mitigating attacks, as it requires a level of networking knowledge beyond that of the average consumer.  Buy AntabuseIn other words, hackers can intercept traffic on any given network and view the information if it is not encrypted.

Other damaging side-effects can be suffered through breached network security.  For instance, ISPs deploying large numbers of vulnerable routers can potentially provide hackers with access into their own core infrastructure.  Sniffing and Rerouting of non-SSL traffic, tampering with DNS settings and initiating dispersed denial-of-service attacks are also plausible dangers of hacker intervention.

ISE has advised router manufacturers to upgrade susceptible hardware and contact their registered users with instructions on how to upgrade their network security.  iPoint’s iNetwork Monitor works the same way, monitoring for breached security holes, upgrades and functionality constantly on a 24/7/365 basis.  Contact our Networking Department today to learn more.

Developing a Multi-Channel Shopping Cart- The “Big 3” Storefronts

Multi-channel e-commerceToday, consumers have more options than ever when considering purchasing products online.  Similarly, businesses need to have multiple e-commerce storefronts in order to satisfy the abundance and span of consumer purchasing.  As changes in buying behavior and technology continue to evolve, the latest challenge for small business owners is to keep pace with how and where their customers shop for products.  The good news is that you can sell everywhere today, and it may be easier than you think.  However, in order to effectively maintain a presence everywhere your customers want to shop, your business needs to support multiple storefronts from a centralized back end location.  Consider these “Big 3” storefront locations:

Traditional E-Commerce:

Traditional storefronts include e-commerce sites that can be easily pasted into your website or WordPress blog.  The page should be highly functional, and offer expected features such as multiple images on product listings, credit card integration and shipping calculations.  Quickness and functionality are a must, as these translate into quicker conversions and fewer abandoned shopping carts.

Mobile Storefronts:

Your mobile storefront should be readily accessible across a variety of devices, as the number of tools used to access the internet expands.  In other words, your website needs to be accessible across all genres of mobile devices, tablets and PCs.  The best approach for small businesses is to initiate a responsive web design which is compatible with all internet devices.  This technology detects the origin of inbound traffic and creates a version of the page for the user which is compatible and easy-to-use.  Shopping carts are now following suit, by dynamically adjusting storefront layouts according to a device’s specific features.

An example of Responsive Website Design:

Social Storefronts:

Of course, no business can ignore the power of social media platforms when considering shopping cart integration.  For instance, research shows that 44% of U.S. consumers are most likely to discover new products on Facebook.  On average, business which set up social commerce storefronts see an additional 10% revenue from these sites.  However, the best merchants are able to secure 30-50% of their total sales from these social networking entities.

In order to take full advantage of today’s social, mobile and multi-device commerce opportunities, your business needs to operate multiple synchronized storefronts simultaneously and manage them all centrally. This equates for easier administration, as well as facilitates effective back-office operations such as multiple-channel inventory management. The e-commerce landscape is changing- to maximize productivity, it is critical that you sell wherever your customers want to shop online, and on the devices they wish to use.

The Technology Behind Fireworks

Finale Fireworks Software ProgramHow often do you consider computer technology when you’re watching firework displays on the 4th of July?  Fireworks have been a celebration staple for hundreds of years.  Invented by the Chinese around the year 1040, the combustion of these black-powder packages were thought to ward off evil spirits.  Since then, the technology of these spectacles has advanced to computerized levels.

In the past, firework displays were conducted by lighting each fuse by hand, generally with a road flare.  Due to obvious safety precautions, this process is virtually extinct.  E-matches were the next big step- basically an electronic spark that would ignite the fuse of each individual flare.  However, this technology has been surpassed still.  Today, computer software programs have been created for designing, simulating and scripting firework displays- some mortars now even contain computer chips.

Programs such as Visual Show Director (VSD) and Finale Fireworks enable designers to choose from a wide variety of fireworks and effects, colors, heights and trajectories with a simple drag and drop of the mouse.  To avoid blind spots, 3D effects were implemented to view each blast from any vantage point in a 360 degree radius.  Choreographers are even able to play music to accentuate each mortar starburst- all in the same program.  Finale Fireworks took this technology a step further by allowing the user to upload an image of the event location which provides a more realistic backdrop for the show’s designer.  Once a show has been programmed and the fireworks are in proper position, the software is capable of running the entire event.  These advances in firework technology have produced shows that now sync to the exact rhythm of music and execute precise firing sequences for spectacular starburst displays at any event.

Sound pretty cool?  You can create a fireworks show of your own-   Visit http://www.finalefireworks.com/ and download their free game.  You can then share your display with friends on social media platforms.  Give it a try, and have a great Independence Day!
